Discover Four Simple Laws...
and solve life's greatest mystery.

God is Holy and Just.
In civil law, a good judge must punish crime. If he turns
a blind eye to injustice, then he is corrupt and he
himself should be punished.
|
|
"Righteousness and justice are the foundation
of Your throne; mercy and truth go before your
face" (Psalm 89:14).
|
In a ten year period in the United States, 63,000
murderers were never brought to justice. These were
unsolved crimes. If God turns a blind eye to those
murderers, then He is corrupt by nature. It makes sense
that if He is good and just, He should be angry with
those who have taken the lives of others, and He should
punish murderers, rapists, etc.
This is the teaching of the Bible - that God will "by no
means clear the guilty." He "will bring every work into
judgment, including every secret thing, whether it is
good or whether it is evil" (Ecclesiastes 12:14), and
"God is angry with the wicked every day" (Psalm
7:11).

The Wages of Sin is Death.
In archery to sin is to miss the mark, to miss the
target. You may hit the bullseye nine times, but if you
miss once you have sinned. What is sin?
|
|
"...sin is transgression of the Law" (1 John
3:4)
|
Let's look briefly at the Ten Commandments, and see if we
have kept God's Law or missed the mark:
|
1. You shall have no other gods before
Me
Have you always put God first in your life?
Jesus said to love God with all your heart, mind,
soul, and strength-- so much, that your love for
your parents, brothers and sisters, friends, and
even your own life is like hatred compared to your
love and devotion for God. Have you ever failed to
put Him first in your life?
2. You shall not make for yourself a graven
image
Who is God to you? Is he only a god of love and
mercy who would never judge anyone and never cast
anyone into Hell? If that's your god, then you're
right. Your god couldn't cast anyone into Hell
because he doesn't exist. He's a figment of your
imagination. You've created a god in your own mind
that you're more comfortable with. You may call it
your "personal belief," but God calls it idolatry.
It's the oldest sin in the Book, and the Bible
warns that idolaters will not inherit the kingdom
of heaven.
3. You shall not take God's name in
vain
Have you ever used God's name as a curse word?
If you have, you've taken the holy name of God--
who gave you your life, your family, and everything
precious to you-- and used it as a filthy,
four-letter word. Hitler's name wasn't even
despised enough to be used as a curse word! If you
have used God's holy name in that manner, you are a
blasphemer and the Bible says "God will not hold
him guiltless who takes the name of the Lord in
vain" (Exodus 20:7).
4. Remember the Sabbath, to keep it
holy
God commands that we set aside one day in seven.
Have you ever been guilty of breaking this
Commandment?
5. Honor your father and mother
Have you always honored your parents in a way
that's pleasing in the sight of God? Ask Him to
remind you of the sins of your youth. You may have
forgotten them, but God hasn't.
6. You shall not murder
Jesus warned "Whoever is angry with his brother
without cause, is in danger of judgment," (Matthew
5:22) and the Bible says, "He who hates his brother
is a murderer," (1 John 3:15). God sees hatred in
the heart to be as wicked as murder. We can violate
His Law by attitude and intent.
7. You shall not commit adultery
Jesus warned, "You have heard...'You shall not
commit adultery.' But I say to you that whoever
looks at a woman to lust for her has already
committed adultery with her in his heart" (Matthew
5:28). Have you ever looked at another person with
lust? The Bible says that adulterers and
fornicators (those who have had sex before
marriage) will not enter the kingdom of
heaven.
8. You shall not steal
Have you ever stolen anything (even if it was
something small)? The value of the thing stolen
doesn't matter; petty theft is still theft. Have
you ever taken anything that belonged to someone
else (from the office, school, parents, etc.)? If
you have, that makes you a thief.
9. You shall not lie
Have you ever told a lie? Then you are a liar.
How many murders do you have to commit to be a
murderer? Just one. If you have told even one lie,
that makes you a liar. The Bible warns that "all
liars will have their part in the Lake of Fire"
(Revelation 21:8). You may not think deceitfulness
is a serious sin, but God does.
10. You shall not covet
This means we should never desire anything that
belongs to another person. Not their house, nor
their car, nor their money, nor their wife, nor
their lifestyle, nor anything that belongs to our
neighbor.
|
Before we say we have obeyed the Commandments, this is
what someone would be like if he kept the Law - he will
always love God with "all of his heart, mind, soul, and
strength," and love his neighbor as much as he has loved
himself. The truth is, we are not like that.
We have all "sinned" many times, and therefore we have
stored up God's wrath, which will be revealed on Judgment
Day. The proof that we have sinned will be our death, and
after death we must face God in judgment.
Think of it - if He has seen our every thought, word, and
deed, and if He is going to bring all our sins out as
evidence of our guilt on the Day of Judgment, we will all
be found to be guilty. Our conscience has shown us right
from wrong; we will be without excuse.
God will give us justice, and Hell will be the place of
our eternal punishment. "For there is nothing covered,
that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not
be known" (Luke 12:2).

God is Rich in Mercy to All That Call Upon
Him
"But God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love
wherewith He loved us..." (Ephesians 2:4).
A youth once borrowed a fast car, and in a drunken
stupor, sped through his home town at 120 m.p.h. Since
everything was horse-drawn in his country town, there was
no laws against speeding. So the council passed a law
saying that 60 m.p.h. was the maximum speed, and that any
transgressors would be fined $100 for every m.p.h. over
the speed limit.
On his way back through the town, the speedster decided
to pull the same prank. He was apprehended, tried, and
found guilty by his father, who was the town's only
judge. He was fined $6,000, and because he had no money
and no words of defense, the youth was led off to
prison.
As he sat in despair in prison, his father appeared at
the door, and told him that he had sold all is own prized
possessions and paid the fine for him. The son couldn't
believe that he loved him that much. They embraced as
they never had before, and walked off in a new-found
relationship, bounded together with love.
That's a picture of what God did for us through the
Gospel.
We have all broken the Law a multitude of times, but God
came to this earth in the person of Jesus Christ, and
paid the fine for us. "For God so loved the world that He
gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him
should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John
3:16). The Bible says, "The wages of sin is death, but
the gift of God is eternal life, through Christ Jesus our
Lord" Romans 6:23.
The Goodness of God
Jesus satisfied Eternal Justice, then rose from the dead,
so that God can grant us eternal life. But just as we
cannot earn a gift, so we cannot earn eternal life by our
good works "For by grace you have been saved through
faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
not of works, lest anyone boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Eternal Life is in Jesus Christ
"He who hears My word and believes on Him who sent
Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into
judgment, but has passed from death into life" (John
5:24).
Life's greatest mystery, death, was destroyed by the One
who said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life..." The
Bible says, "He who has the Son, has life..."
To find the way to God, to understand the truth of God's
Word, and to received the gift of eternal life, begin by
repentance and faith through a prayer like this:
"Dear God, I understand that I have broken Your
Law and sinned against You. Please forgive my sins. Thank
You that Jesus suffered on the cross in my place. I now
place my trust in Him as My Savior and Lord. In Jesus'
name I pray. Amen."
If you have repented and trusted in Jesus, then you can
now partake of the blessings of "the New Covenant." Here
are just ten of God's exceedingly great and precious
promises:.
|
1. You have passed from death into life (1 John
3:14).
2. God will supply all of your needs according to
His riches (Philippians 4:19).
3. Jesus will be with you in trials, promising
never to leave nor forsake you (Hebrews
13:5).
4. The Holy Spirit will lead you into all truth,
and give you the power to live a holy life (John
16:13).
5. You are cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ -
God has removed your sins as far as the east is
from the west (Psalm 103:12).
6. As you abide in Christ, you will see the
"fruits" of His Spirit begin to manifest in your
life (John 15:5).
7. As you read the Bible daily, it will come alive
to you and cause you to grown in your faith (Romans
10:17).
8. When you pray, God will hear you and answer your
prayers (Proverbs 15:29).
9. The cross will be continual evidence of God's
love for you (John 15:13).
10. God will "keep you from falling, and present
you faultless before the presence of His glory,
with exceeding joy" (Jude 1:24).
